Jessica and I did all of the Second floor framing, in one weekend. It was pretty easy compared to the first floor. It helps when you have an idea of what to do.
We finished getting all the 4x10's up on the girders, leveled, and secured. Also installed another 3 windows, the two fixed pane in the living room are in, and the slider in the kitchen as well. The next ones and the patio door I'll need Jessica's help with, too heavy to do alone. Cleaned up a little as it was getting messy . Not too far from starting interior wall framing!!
Busy weekend; the interior finish is complete!! We decided to do a clear satin finish. Each log is so unique we felt this would bring out its natural beauty. Lots of work to get them ready for this weekend. - Powerwash 3x - grinded all logs with flap disk - palm sanded inside (60 grit) - scrubbed with cleaning solution - applied a brightner - coated logs in borate (keeps the bugs out!) - applied Pre-Stain #sashcocolorfast - sanded between each coat of clear. We couldn’t be happier! The logs have a soft, smooth texture with a luxurious sheen. Exterior stain this weekend!
We finished the cleaning, brightening, borate to keep the bugs away, and 20 gallons of pre-stain sprayed last weekend. We started insulating and did a test run with a bag of mortar mix vs mixing it separately like last time. Stain for the outside and clear coat for the inside should be delivered soon, that's next
