More dirt moved

Image
After backfilling we had a larger pile of dirt and boulders. Yesterday the guys moved some boulders and made a retaining wall by the dog fence, and we now have a way larger turn around/parking area. And room to work around the foundation.

Backfill is done

We filled in around the foundation now that the waterproof membrane and drain was installed. Even though we filled the holes, our dirt pile is larger again:) We will push over 2 mid sized trees and make the parking area larger with the extra dirt. Also found a massive boulder that was flat on top, have to turn that into something useful once we are done.

Ready for backfill

We've made decent progress, after the ICF blocks were set we braced the inside walls, finished the rebar, and added knockouts for plumbing out and dryer vent. Also added conduits for water in, electric in, house bibs at 2 corners, and a couple extras just in case. Concrete pour went ok but had 1 blow out at a cut block so that was stressful but we got it stopped. Added 4" perforated pipe for drainage all the way around and the waterproof membrane. Should be backfilling this weekend!

We set our Fox blocks ICF today, giant Legos! Pretty fun actually, goes very fast since they are 4' long. Here's a time lapse of the day: https://youtu.be/IgcrPs06LKk This morning saw another mountain lion in the yard, this one was very dark.

Geez been a while, started on the foundation!

So permits took a while this spring but finally got approved. Had to add some drain field to the septic to make the county folks happy. Digging for the foundation went well, only hit a bit of rock.  Jessica and I built the footer forms: And we put the rebar in, then inspected (and passed): Concrete and pump truck is scheduled for Tuesday! Foxbock ICF were delivered yesterday, good timing, huge Legos.
