Guttters installed, & more chinking....

We finally had gutters installed on the house last week. Now the crawlspace should stay nice & dry without all the water falling around the house.
The guys were in & out in about 4 hours, not too bad.

We finished chinking this side of the house this weekend as well:

Here's the backside, all the chinking is done here, downspout, & our meterbase.

The dirt guys came back & finished some final grading, & Brad & Travis came out on Saturday & finished off the last of the heating & cooling stuff. Getting close to rough-in inspection time!

After another weekend of chinking we'll be done the outside, then to finish off the gable ends.

Hey your place looks really great.

I am wondering about the Skip method of building, and am convinced about the quality of the build, but still not convinced about the finances.

They seem to suggest that this can be done for a fraction of building a normal house. Not to ask too personal a question, but can you post a blog entry on how you think it is going in this regard. Again I will understand if it is too personal.

Kevin,

I won't post specific $$, but I'll give you my thoughts on it.

If you follow what they teach, you will build one of these homes for a very reasonable price compared to a regular house.

It comes down to 2 things, time + money.
If you have 10 years to build, you can likely build one for under $20K. On the other hand, if you want it done in 6 months, you might have to add a zero behind that figure.

Also, there's large price differences in people's personal tastes, ie, granite counters, tile, hardwood, newest coolest things at the home store etc, so it really comes down to what you'd like to build, & how much time you're willing to throw at the project.

Hope that helps,
Jeff
