Exterior stain done

We finished the stain on the outside the other weekend. Oil based Sashco should provide lots of protection.

Interior clear done

Image
Busy weekend; the interior finish is complete!! We decided to do a clear satin finish. Each log is so unique we felt this would bring out its natural beauty. Lots of work to get them ready for this weekend. - Powerwash 3x - grinded all logs with flap disk - palm sanded inside (60 grit) - scrubbed with cleaning solution - applied a brightner - coated logs in borate (keeps the bugs out!) - applied Pre-Stain #sashcocolorfast - sanded between each coat of clear. We couldn’t be happier! The logs have a soft, smooth texture with a luxurious sheen. Exterior stain this weekend!

Progress again

We finished the cleaning, brightening, borate to keep the bugs away, and 20 gallons of pre-stain sprayed last weekend. We started insulating and did a test run with a bag of mortar mix vs mixing it separately like last time. Stain for the outside and clear coat for the inside should be delivered soon, that's next

plumbing and cleaning

Lucky enough to know a plumber, so they were able to come out and finish the rough in. Only took them a couple (long) days. Jessica and I have been sanding inside, getting all the interior logs smooth and ready for stain.   All the pocket door frames are installed.

More window stuff done

Last 2 window bucks are installed upstairs. Second bedroom and office area will now have some sunlight.   Gable end sheathing sure course faster than logs haha.

almost ready for plumbing

Been finishing up framing, just have a small section to close in downstairs shower with a wall and frame a door under the stairs. Jessica sanded more logs and they look great. Also got a crawlspace access door cut into the floor with hinges.

Upstairs almost done

We finished the last of the t&g on top of the beams, then topped with 3/4" subfloor, super sturdy and solid now. Built a set of stairs, still need to close them in underneath for pantry/storage. Started framing upstairs this weekend, got the bathroom and bedroom almost completed. Just need  to finish up to the ceiling.   Jessica sanded a bunch of logs in the laundry room area, they are nice and smooth now.   Layla was also helping today, she needed the heater.
